We’re back in San Francisco, at the hospital, room #406, phone #415-600-XXXX. This is the same room we had last week.

All continues to go well with Aaron. His feedings are now 6cc every 2 hours. Later today, they’ll bump them up to 7cc every 2 hours. Also, he’ll be taken off of both antibiotics this afternoon.

We spent the first part of Christmas day (yesterday) at home, then we drove down here to spend the evening with our baby.

The attached picture was taken by nurse Oak (that’s her first name; she is Oriental) last night. In the picture, you can see the monogrammed fleece baby blanket that my (Kevin’s) sister Cheryl and her husband Brad from Chicago gave Aaron for Christmas. Also, you’ll notice that Aaron has now graduated to the white, medium-sized hat that my mom had knitted for Aaron a few weeks ago. He has now outgrown the small green one (I’m sure that tiny green hat is going to make quite the conversation piece in the years to come!).

Aaron will be receiving another of many blood transfusions today (he’s already had quite a few, because they have to take blood samples from him several times a day to do blood gas tests, and his immature bone marrow is not able to manufacture new blood cells as quickly as they’re being taken from him for samples). According to Dr. Lee, the chances of Aaron contracting AIDS from a unit of blood is less than one in a million, and his chances of contracting hepatitis is one in several hundred thousand (still, it wouldn’t hurt for us to pray about this, thanks!). Today, Aaron will be starting on his second unit of blood, and Dr. Lee asked me for the OK on this. And yes, I am very thankful that I am no longer a Jehovah’s Witness (see www.kevinquick.com/kkministries for the full story on this). If I had still been a Witness, I would either have had to deny my faith, or let Aaron die without the transfusions. Thankfully, my conscience is now OK with Aaron receiving the blood. Thank God for the timing on this!

Love, Kevin, Kathleen & Aaron
