| Subject: Aaron update 55 Date: Wednesday, January 29, 2003 11:19 AM From: Kevin Quick To: Aaron Update List Kathleen called and talked with nurse Lisa. Aaron continues to amaze us. He took his last two feedings (26cc each time) by bottle, rather than by a gavage (feeding) tube. I think he knows breast feeding is coming next week, and he’s trying to show us that he’s ready. Dr. Lewis, seeing that Aaron had taken the bottle feedings so well, said that “if he’s bottle feeding, then he shouldn’t be on CPAP,” so Aaron will probably be off of CPAP completely for the next couple of days, at least. Lisa said that he’s breathing a little fast, and she thinks that a little rest on the CPAP would be good for him, so we’ll see where that goes from here. He continues to gain 20 to 30 grams (1 oz. is 28 grams) per day. Looking good! Kevin |
