I was just going to send a "quickie," to let some relatives know about a change in our summer plans, but then I noticed that it's been a little over a month since our last update, so I thought I'd just send a regular update instead. (Has it really been a month? Time really does seem to speed up as we get older!)

Our change in summer plans is that we've decided not to attend the Lacrosse (Kathleen's maiden name) family reunion in San Diego later this month. We've been looking forward to this "vacation" for the past year, but we've decided that it would be wise to forego this adventure this time.

Aaron's Medi-Cal insurance was terminated last week, on July 31. Our family insurance company, Blue Shield, has denied coverage again for Aaron, so we'll be going with a MRMIP (Major Risk Medical Insurance Policy) policy for Aaron, which is apparently the only insurance we can get for him now, given his history and preexisting conditions. One hitch that we learned about last Friday is that there's currently a one-month waiting list for MRMIP, so, even though Aaron has been accepted by MRMIP, his policy won't be effective until September 1. So, he won't be covered through the month of August. This means that we'll need to be extra careful this month that Aaron doesn't get sick. Aaron's still not growing much to speak of (he's still 14.25 pounds, which he's been for the past 6 weeks), and Kathleen and I thought the stress and extra people contact with the trip to San Diego might be just a little too risky for Aaron health-wise, and financially risky for us (just a few days in the hospital for Aaron with no insurance would wipe us out). So, we're trying to do the responsible thing by foregoing the San Diego trip. We'll miss our extended family and the festivities there; we hope you all will understand!

Other than his continuing very low weight, Aaron is doing fine. He says "Daddy" and "baby," and tries to say "cat" ("da"), dog ("da") and duck ("da"). He's making a lot of new verbal sounds, so we think he may start saying some more things soon. He can take about one step by himself, so we think he'll be walking before too long. He loves examining things in great detail, especially if the things have buttons or switches; he's become expert in finding and pushing buttons and switching switches.

Robin had her six-month birthday yesterday, and she's really come alive in the past month or so. She rolls all over the place now, and picks up toys and plays with them. She's a real sweetie, although she does have her "banshee" moments, as we call them, too. She loves Aaron, and spends a lot of time watching him. Aaron likes her, too, and especially likes to rock her very vigorously in her bouncy seat or in her swing. It's really special sometimes to catch them looking and smiling at each other.

The attached picture was taken at "our" beach. As I mentioned awhile back, we're caretaking a property on Clear Lake, and the caretaker's (our) house includes it's own private section of beach. So, we're looking forward to lots of family time at the beach and on the lake as the kids grow up; I have many fond memories from my childhood of family times at the lake in Michigan and in upstate New York.

We hope you're enjoying your summer. Please pray with us for a peaceful, uneventful August. God has taken care of us well so far, and we trust that He'll continue to do so on a daily basis.

Love, Kevin, Kathleen, Aaron and Robin
