Aaron had a hearing test today, and passed! Yes! For the test, they apparently monitored his brain waves while making various sounds. Kathleen and I already knew that his hearing was probably OK, just from the way he’s been responding to everyday sounds, but it’s good to have the official test results, too.

Aaron continues to do just fine. He lost a few grams since yesterday, but this was mostly due to “a really big poop,” as Kathleen said. He’s right on track, is eating well, and is just being a wonderful little guy.

Kathleen said that some nurses have told her that we’re fortunate that Aaron has such a sweet disposition. We remember Marko, and Olivia, and some other preemies that have gone home, and they were quite fussy and crabby a lot of the time. The nurses have told Kathleen that this crankiness is typical of preemies, especially very early ones like Aaron, but somehow, we’ve escaped this so far (knock on wood). Aaron is a very gentle little guy; even when he’s hungry and the nurse has to do twenty minutes of “stats” before Kathleen can feed him, he is very patient. He does cry a little here and there, enough to let us know that he’s hungry, but he’s definitely a very mellow and pleasant baby.

Kathleen and I are both climbing the walls, finding it difficult to focus on anything but bringing everybody home. This is good, because our desire to have everyone home is outweighing our fears at this point. We know we’ll have our challenges, but we’re very much looking forward to meeting these challenges as a family.

Six more days, Lord willing!
