Aaron’s blood and urine tests came back testing negative for bacteria, which is good. He’s now being weaned off of the blood pressure medication, and if all goes well, his feedings should resume in a few days. He’s still on an antibiotic that we hope will help to ward off any bug that may be bothering him that did not show up in the tests. Aaron’s vital signs are all looking good today, and Kathleen said that he was looking good.

Aaron pulled out his breathing tube yesterday, all by himself (yeah, that’s Kevin’s boy). The doctors put it back in.

Kathleen was able to attend a support group meeting at the hospital yesterday for parents of preemies. Kathleen said that there were 5 women in attendance that she’s gotten to know quite well, thanks to their communal breast pumping sessions in the “pumping room” at the NICU. Dr. Lee gave a presentation on preparing for discharge from the hospital (seems like a long way away for us, but God willing, we’ll get there!).

While I’m thinking about it... Kathleen has gotten to know another mother with a baby (maybe a 28 weeker or so?) in the NICU whose baby has been suffering quite badly from jaundice for a couple of weeks. According to Kathleen, this woman has been quite distraught over the past few days, concerned that her baby may not make it. I though it might be nice if we could offer some prayers for her and her baby, too.

I’ll be going back to SF tomorrow (Friday) afternoon. It’s been a bit of a strange week, being here at home by myself, and I’m really looking forward to getting back together with my family (love that expression!) again.

Love, Kevin
