Aaron’s still cruising along. We don’t know exactly how much he weighs now, since we haven’t been to the doctor since our last update. We’d guess, though, that he’s around 11 pounds.

Every day he seems to be learning something new. He now reaches for and grasps toys that we place in front of him, he transfers the toys between his two hands, and he studies things very intently (we think he got that trait from his dad). He melts us continually with his smiles. He’s eating some solid food, some breast milk and some baby formula. His favorite position is sitting straight up, where he can look around and study everything. We’re giving him some “tummy time,” but he much prefers being on his back. On his tummy, his head is a little heavy for him to hold up for more than a few seconds, so he’s working on strengthening his neck muscles. He’s starting to scoot around on the floor on his back; within a half hour or so, he’s usually 5 feet or so from where we’d put him.

On Sunday, we’ll be beginning a little family adventure. We’ll be displaying our machinery at a woodworking machinery trade show in Anaheim, CA. With setup, teardown and everything, it’ll be about a 10-day trip. Kathleen’s aunt and mom will be staying at our hotel, and will be babysitting and spending some auntie and grandma time with Aaron during the Show, so Kathleen can work with me in our booth. There will be many challenges, not the least of which will be trying to fit everything in the car! This will be our first overnight traveling experience with baby.

We hope you’re all enjoying your summer.

Love, Kevin, Kathleen & Aaron
