Subject: Aaron Date: Monday, March 31, 2003 5:47 PM From: Kevin Quick To: Aaron Update List Kathleen and Aaron are on their way back now from a visit with Dr. Good, the eye doctor, in San Francisco. Kathleen said that Dr. Good said that Aarons ROP is looking very good. Rather than stage 1 and stage 2 now, Aarons ROP has regressed to just a little stage 1. Yes! Dr. Good does want to have Aarons eyes checked on in another two weeks, however, since theres still a 2% chance that his ROP could get worse; were still not entirely out of the critical time frame. If his eyes are OK in two weeks, then he wont need to be checked for another year. Aaron has been good on the trip so far, but still, Kathleen and I think that both of us will make subsequent trips with Aaron to San Francisco. Dealing with the oxygen, monitor, feedings, parking, etc., were a little challenging. Aarons next eye doctor visit will be with a new doctor in Santa Rosa, which is only a 2-hour drive each way, rather than the 3-hour drive each way to San Francisco. You might notice a pea-sized bump on the top of Aarons head. Its a hemangioma; Aaron has had it for the past couple of months. It will supposedly grow for a few months, then regress and eventually disappear on its own. I dont know much about hemangiomas yet; if you want to learn more, you might want to do a Google search on it: https://www.google.com/search?q=hemangioma&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 Kevin |
