We had a great weekend! Home, home, home.

We were expecting Aaron to mainly just eat and sleep, but he now has enough extra energy that he wants to socialize and play, too. He seems to have a little more energy and be a little more alert and “alive” every day. Last evening, after he fussed a bit in his bassinet, we took him out and put him in his “play seat” (see the attached picture) for the first time. He loved this, and played and looked around for a couple of hours.

He’s been quite good at night. He wakes up and wants to be fed around 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. With two of us (Kathleen and me) here to do the job, it’s not been too difficult. The biggest hassle right now is working around the wires and oxygen tube; they’re constantly in the way, whether we’re changing him, moving him, or just holding him. We are very much looking forward to the day when the wires and tubes will be gone!

Our main goal now is to have Aaron grow enough that he has enough new lung tissue that he won’t need to be on oxygen any more. The doctors in San Francisco were saying that he could be on oxygen for a year, but some nurses said that the doctors try to be on the conservative side when counseling the parents. Some nurses said that he could be off of oxygen in a month, especially considering how well he is doing in every other area.

Over the past month or so, we think we’ve noticed his eyes getting a little bluer in color; they’re now sort of a blue-grey.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Aaron’s lungs. A miraculous healing would be nice, but the natural process of growing new lung tissue would be OK, too.

Love, Kevin, Kathleen and Aaron
