Kathleen and Aaron spent the entire morning together, and had a good time. The past couple of days, Aaron had been fussy while breast feeding, and Kathleen had been getting a little frustrated, but this morning went very smoothly.

Dr. Goldman paid a visit, and gave Aaron an ultrasound exam to check on the cause of his heart murmur. He told Kathleen that he saw nothing that was troublesome.

Aaron didn’t gain any weight yesterday, but Dr. Goldman wasn’t surprised. He said that his 35cc feeds really are not enough for Aaron to gain weight at this point. He’d like to see Kathleen and Aaron make progress on the breast feeding, so Aaron will get the extra nutrition through breast feeding that he needs to grow. Aaron’s 35cc bottle and gavage feeds will be kept as they are for a week or so, as we try to transition more toward breast feeding.

The NICU has a total of 31 beds, and they’re all full. It’s been a circus there for the past two days with all the new patients. Still no new 24-weekers, though, for Aaron to pass the torch to.
