Kathleen and Aaron are on their way back now from a visit with Dr. Good, the eye doctor, in San Francisco. Kathleen said that Dr. Good said that Aaron’s ROP is looking very good. Rather than stage 1 and stage 2 now, Aaron’s ROP has regressed to just a little stage 1. Yes! Dr. Good does want to have Aaron’s eyes checked on in another two weeks, however, since there’s still a 2% chance that his ROP could get worse; we’re still not entirely out of the critical time frame. If his eyes are OK in two weeks, then he won’t need to be checked for another year.

Aaron has been good on the trip so far, but still, Kathleen and I think that both of us will make subsequent trips with Aaron to San Francisco. Dealing with the oxygen, monitor, feedings, parking, etc., were a little challenging. Aaron’s next eye doctor visit will be with a new doctor in Santa Rosa, which is only a 2-hour drive each way, rather than the 3-hour drive each way to San Francisco.

You might notice a pea-sized bump on the top of Aaron’s head. It’s a hemangioma; Aaron has had it for the past couple of months. It will supposedly grow for a few months, then regress and eventually disappear on its own. I don’t know much about hemangiomas yet; if you want to learn more, you might want to do a Google search on it:
